Clay Schacht is an associate in the Orlando office of Roig Lawyers.
Clay’s practice primarily focuses in the areas of insurance services and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)/No-Fault litigation. He has significant experience in the areas of third-party and first-party claims, premises liability, personal injury, worker’s compensation and wrongful death. Clay has represented national insurance carriers as well hospitals, physicians and other medical professionals from pre-suit filings through resolution of claims and lawsuits. He also has previous experience representing clients in criminal matters, including numerous jury and non-jury trials.
Clay has tried 28 civil jury trials, with 24 as first chair, including 23 first and third party automobile liability cases, 2 negligent security cases, 1 declaratory judgment/breach of contract case (material misrepresentation), 1 personal injury protection case (failure to appear for IME), and 1 medical malpractice case. He has a record of 20 wins and 8 losses and over 25 criminal jury and bench trials, winning over 90% of them.
Clay has drafted several appellate briefs and successfully argued before the Fifth District Court of Appeal. He has also appeared as lead counsel before The Florida Supreme Court and served as Guardian Ad Litem in Orange County, FL.
Prior to practicing law, Clay worked in nursing while he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Central Florida in 1990. In 1994 he received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he was a member of the Law Review.
Clay is a native of Rochester, Minnesota.
