ROIG Lawyers Partner Elected to Florida Defense Lawyers Association Board

August 26, 2015

Roig Lawyers, a minority-owned multi-practice litigation law firm dedicated to serving clients across six offices throughout Florida, is pleased to announce that Mark J. Rose, partner in the Deerfield Beach office, has been elected to a two-year term to the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA) Board of Directors and selected as Board Liaison for the FDLA Auto/Transportation Committee.

Rose’s duties as a Director are to work with the FDLA Officers to set goals for the operation of the organization and to organize and run three annual meetings: the Annual Meeting, the Winter Meeting, and the Florida Liability Claims Conference.

Rose has been actively involved with FDLA and was the Co-Chair of the FDLA’s Young Lawyer’s Committee as well as FDLA’s 2014 James A. Dixon Young Lawyer Award recipient. He also co-presented at the 2014 FDLA Annual Conference on the topic of Social Media Discovery.

The Florida Defense Lawyers Association represents the interests of lawyers in private practice whose practice primarily focuses on the defense of civil matters and extends membership to lawyers employed by public agencies and private corporations.

FDLA’s goal is to promote a level playing field in civil litigation and to foster its members’ growth as professionals through publications (a quarterly newsletter and a quarterly legal journal, Trial Advocate Quarterly), quality CLE programs, networking and support of fellow members, and collegial and social membership meetings. The group’s interests span such diverse issues as law practice economics, legislative developments, influencing substantive law, developing professional referrals, sharing expert information, and supporting members on statewide committees and elected offices.

FDLA organizes and puts on two annual educational conferences primarily for members, one major annual education conference for the claims industry, and numerous other educational programs throughout the year. It also has an Amicus Program, through which FDLA members volunteer to write amicus briefs in appellate cases of general interest to the defense bar.
