Melanie Smith Appointed Co-Chair of New FAWL Committee

Melanie L. Smith, an associate in the Orlando office of ROIG Lawyers, was appointed co-chair of a new committee for the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL).

The Health and Wellness Committee is focused on celebrating women’s health and sharing information on the topic, as well as developing partnerships with businesses in health-related fields to benefit FAWL members. Smith was appointed co-chair by FAWL’s president.

FAWL, which currently has more than 3,100 members, is a statewide organization with the mission of actively promoting gender equality and the leadership roles of FAWL’s members in the legal profession, judiciary and community at large.

ROIG Lawyers has been ranked #40 two years in a row in Law360’s “Top 100 Law Firms for Female Attorneys.”

Melanie L. Smith concentrates her practice on insurance services, including the oversight of special investigation projects to defend insurance carriers against medical providers suspected of fraud. She was previously in-house counsel for an automobile insurance carrier, an assistant public defender in Manatee County, and assistant attorney general in Broward County.
