Roig Lawyers Attorneys and Healthcare Policy Advisor to Present to AssuranceAmerica
Roig Lawyers attorneys Miguel R. Roura and Paul Michael Gabe, as well as a healthcare policy advisor, Dennis LaRosa will present “Emerging Trends in PIP SIU” to AssuranceAmerica on August 21, 2015.
Miguel and Paul will educate adjusters on recent SIU trends, help identify fraud, and discuss various investigative tools used to fight fraud as well as review case law, which will aid adjusters in determining what issues and facts create a solid or weak defense.
Dennis will be discussing the inter-relationship between administrative licensing requirements of the Agency for Health Care Administration and the Florida Department of Health, generally, and the requirements of the Health Care Clinic Act and the “scope of practice” for healthcare practitioners, specifically. He will also discuss current legislation, Medical Director responsibilities for licensed healthcare practitioners and unlicensed clinics.

Miguel concentrates his practice in the areas of Personal Injury Protection (PIP)/No-Fault litigation and fraud (SIU) investigations. He also defends clients in cases involving bodily injury, uninsured motorists, property damage, and general liability litigation. The identification and investigation of fraudulent claims represent a significant portion of Miguel’s practice. Miguel is a graduate of Stetson University College of Law (J.D., 2008) and the University of Florida (B.A., 2004).
Paul concentrates his practice in the areas of insurance coverage and Personal Injury Protection (PIP)/No-Fault litigation and fraud (SIU) investigations. He also defends clients in cases involving property damage and general liability litigation. The identification and investigation of fraudulent claims represent a significant portion of Gabe’s practice. Paul is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center (J.D., 2012), and Villanova University (B.A., 2007).
Dennis has over 40 years experience in state licensing, including 10 years as a supervisor at the Agency for Health Care Administration implementing and overseeing health care clinic licensure and exemptions. Dennis is a sought after speaker in discussing the relationship between state licensing and automobile insurance having made presentations to the Florida Bar, National Insurance Crime Bureau, the International Association of Special Investigative Units, attorneys and judges, and has been a witness in numerous federal criminal and civil cases dealing with this subject. While a practicing attorney, he prosecuted scores of administrative law cases, appeals, and represented the State of Florida in both state and federal courts on diverse issues ranging from taxation, state licensing, and environmental law to admiralty. He has been a healthcare policy advisor with Roig Lawyers for the past two years.
