Roig Lawyers Miami Attorney Appointed as “Liaison” to Florida Association for Women Lawyers’ (FAWL) State Board of Directors

Roig Lawyers, a minority-owned multi-practice litigation law firm dedicated to serving clients across six offices throughout Florida, is pleased to announce that Julie Harris Nelson has been appointed as the Diversity and Inclusion Committee Liaison for FAWL.

“I am honored to have been appointed by this trailblazing organization. I look forward to spearheading key initiatives between The Florida Bar’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and FAWL that will have a significant impact on diversity within the legal community,” said Harris Nelson.

Harris Nelson is actively involved in many organizations dedicated to diversity including the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association, the Wilkie D. Ferguson Bar Association, The Florida Bar, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee, and more. Harris Nelson is also a part of the Judicial Diversity Initiative (a joint committee amongst Florida Black Bar Associations), which will focus on critical areas in order to foster diversity in the judiciary and increase the number of Black judges in the state.

Harris Nelson is also a new member of FAWL’s State Committee, which addresses membership promotion and advancement of its members. She will encourage and promote growth of FAWL members at the local and state level.

Founded in 1951, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers strives to propel women lawyers into economic, social, and leadership spheres of power. FAWL actively promotes gender equality and the leadership roles of FAWL’s members in the legal profession, judiciary, and community at large.
