May 13, 2016

Marcus B. Griggs received a Put Something Back pro bono award from Dade Legal Aid for his abundant and exceptional pro bono work in the Miami-Dade legal community. Marcus was recognized at the Dade County Bar Association’s 26th Annual Recognition Luncheon on May 6, 2016, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Miami.

The event’s program said, “Marcus Griggs has been providing pro bono services to the disadvantaged throughout his distinguished career.”

Marcus was also honored for being one of 15 Fellows of the 2015-16 Dade Legal Aid Leadership Academy. They were selected for their leadership, accomplishments and service. The Fellows participated in a yearlong program that immersed them into public service and the needs of Dade Legal Aid’s clients.

“He is truly remarkable,” Dade Legal Aid executive director Karen Landis said of Marcus.

Dade Legal Aid’s mission is to provide a crucial safety net of legal support to the underprivileged residents of Miami-Dade County. It currently serves over 5,000 clients annually utilizing a strategic mix of experienced staff attorneys, pro bono attorneys, law firm partnerships, law school stakeholders and dozens of collaborations with diverse organizations with the common goal of assisting vulnerable populations and families living in poverty without means to hire and attorney and unable to be served by another agency.
