About Nelson C. Bellido: Nelson is the partner in charge of the firm’s Miami office. His main areas of practice are in complex commercial litigation, insurance law, finance law, products liability, and domestic and international disputes concerning debtor/creditor relationships and shareholder and partnership disputes. He also has experience in shipping and trade laws, construction litigation, real estate litigation, employment litigation, complex asset recovery, and creation of business documents. He has experience litigating cases in state and federal court and arbitration proceedings.
Nelson is a graduate of Duke University (B.A. 1989) and the University of Florida (J.D. 1992). Among honors received, Nelson was appointed by the Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Miami-Dade County, Florida to the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics & Public Trust in July 2010. He was recognized in 2013 as Top 100 Lawyers of Florida by Super Lawyers magazine; Top Lawyer in Commercial & Business Litigation by The South Florida Legal Guide (2012 & 2013); Legal Elite in Commercial Litigation by Florida Trend Magazine (2006-2014); Duke University Charles A. Duke Award for Exceptional Service (2013); Forever Duke Community Service Award (2013) and Legal Services of Greater Miami Volunteer Service Award (2006).
Nelson currently serves as Chairperson of the Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics & Public Trust and has served as Director of the Cuban American Bar Association (CABA) (2006-2013), past President (2008) and Director of the League of Prosecutors (2004-2010) and continues to serve the Board of Directors of the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition since 2006.
