Roig Lawyers Expands to Texas, Welcomes Carla S. Courtney as Partner
[Houston, Texas] — Roig Lawyers is pleased to announce its expansion into Texas with the addition of Carla S. Courtney as Partner. Courtney, an experienced trial attorney licensed in Texas and Louisiana, will represent clients in liability and Special Investigation Unit (SIU) matters while helping grow the firm’s presence and capabilities in the Texas market.
Our expansion into Texas represents more than a new office. Texas is a critical jurisdiction for many of the insurers and businesses we serve, and we are excited to strengthen those relationships while continuing to deliver exceptional legal counsel.
The expansion represents an important milestone for Roig Lawyers as the firm continues to broaden its geographic reach and provide insurers, businesses, and organizations with strategic litigation counsel across key markets.
“Expanding into Texas is a natural next step for our firm and our clients,” said Michael A. Rosenberg, Managing Partner of Roig Lawyers. “Carla brings extensive litigation and trial experience, a strong understanding of the insurance industry, and the type of practical, client-focused approach that aligns with how we practice at Roig Lawyers. We are excited to welcome her to the firm and have her lead our efforts in Texas.”
“Serving our clients has always been the driving force behind our growth. Texas is an important market for many of the insurers and businesses we represent, and establishing a presence here reflects our commitment to meeting their needs in key jurisdictions. We are excited to build on the relationships we have established while continuing to deliver the high level of service and legal counsel that defines Roig Lawyers,” said Jordana A. Kahn, Partner at Roig Lawyers.
Courtney brings more than two decades of litigation experience in state and federal courts. Throughout her career, she has represented clients in insurance defense, liability, construction law, personal injury, risk management, employment law, and other complex matters. She has considerable first-chair bench and jury trial experience and is known for developing creative, effective strategies for complicated issues.
Courtney’s practice at Roig Lawyers will focus on liability defense, including the investigation and defense of suspicious and potentially fraudulent claims. Her experience complements the firm’s established capabilities in insurance defense, complex litigation, and fraud-related matters.
Before entering private practice, Courtney began her legal career in 1997 as a staff attorney with the Louisiana Board of Ethics. She later transitioned into private practice, where she developed a broad litigation practice representing clients in both state and federal courts. She has also been appointed by courts to serve as a Special Master and Assistant to the Special Master in class action litigation.
Courtney earned her Juris Doctor from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University, where she was a Merit Scholar and participated in mock trial and international moot court. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and Broadcast Journalism from Louisiana State University.
She is admitted to practice in Texas and Louisiana, as well as before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. Courtney has also been recognized by The National Black Lawyers – Top 100.
With the addition of Courtney and its expansion into Texas, Roig Lawyers continues its strategic growth while strengthening the firm’s ability to serve our clients’ business and legal needs where they operate.
