Carla S. Courtney is a Partner at Roig Lawyers with more than 20 years of litigation experience in state and federal courts. Licensed to practice in both Texas and Louisiana, Carla focuses her practice on insurance defense, gig economy litigation, personal injury, and construction law. Throughout her career, she has represented clients in complex matters requiring strategic, practical, and creative approaches tailored to the unique facts and circumstances of each case.
An experienced trial attorney, Carla has served as first-chair counsel in both bench and jury trials. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Carla brings more than two decades of litigation experience to Roig Lawyers, representing clients in state and federal courts in Texas and Louisiana. Her practice has included insurance defense, gig economy matters, personal injury, and construction law, with extensive experience developing litigation strategies for matters involving unique and complicated factual and legal issues.
Throughout her career, Carla has served as first-chair counsel in bench and jury trials and has earned the respect of her colleagues for her professionalism, work ethic, and dedication to the practice of law. She has also been invited to serve as a guest speaker on topics involving legal ethics and professionalism. Her professionalism and work ethic have also led to her appointment as Special Master in several Class Action cases.
Carla earned her law degree from Louisiana State University’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she was a Merit Scholar and achieved superior rankings in trial advocacy, appellate advocacy, and legal writing. During law school, she served on the Mock Trial Board, as President of the International Law Society, Vice President of the Black Law Students Association, and as Captain of the Phillip C. Jessup International Moot Court Team, which became regional champion under her leadership.
