ROIG Partner Nelson Bellido a Finalist for Insurance Defense Attorney of the Year

Nelson C. Bellido, managing partner of the Miami office of ROIG Lawyers, is a finalist for Insurance Defense Attorney of the Year as selected by the Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee (FIFEC). The winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony Luncheon on June 9, 2016, during FIFEC’s annual conference in Orlando.

The Insurance Defense Attorney of the Year competition weighs considerations such as unique strategies the attorney uses in fighting insurance fraud and the impact of those strategies on the industry.

“I am truly honored to be nominated for Insurance Defense Attorney of the Year,” Nelson said. “I have been fighting fraud since the early 1990s when I was a prosecutor under State Attorney Janet Reno and Kathy Fernandez Rundle. I have a passion for being fair and doing what is right while instilling a team approach and applying unique strategies at ROIG Lawyers to combat fraud in the civil arena.”

FIFEC began in Altamonte Springs, FL, in 1992. The not-for-profit corporation is a joint effort between law enforcement and the special investigation units of the insurance industry.

About the Attorney

Nelson’s main areas of practice are insurance defense litigation, insurance fraud special investigations, complex commercial litigation, finance law, products liability, and shareholder and partnership disputes.

Nelson, who was recently recognized as one of the 2016 Power Leaders in Law & Accounting by the South Florida Business Journal, is a member of the Florida Defense Lawyers Association. ROIG Lawyers was named the #1 law firm for Hispanic attorneys by Law360 last month.
