A renowned South Florida trial lawyer and community leader with over three decades of experience, Nelson C. Bellido has built his career representing clients in their most high-stakes and complex disputes.

Nelson is a seasoned first-chair trial lawyer and managing partner at the firm’s Miami office, where he leads the Business Litigation & Product Liability practices. He represents Fortune 500 companies, mid-size and small businesses, and individuals in matters involving commercial disputes, products liability, insurance, labor & employment, corporate law, and premises liability. Moreover, he thrives in high-pressure environments and regularly defends clients in bellwether cases involving high stakes. In addition, Nelson is known for his strategic approach to corporate crisis management and his ability to resolve complex disputes efficiently and effectively, earning a reputation as a trusted advisor to in-house counsel and executives facing significant legal exposure.

Throughout his career, Nelson has defended clients from a diverse range of industries including pharmaceuticals, life sciences, automotive, retail, restaurants, banking & finance, energy, technology, and insurance companies. In particular, his experience includes serving as lead trial counsel in high-stakes cases involving product defects, labeling and failure-to-warn claims, as well as trade secret and trademark disputes. Furthermore, he has successfully defended class actions and multi-district litigation, securing favorable jury verdicts, summary judgments, and other positive outcomes.

In a recent case leading up to trial, Nelson represented one of the largest biomedical companies ranked on the Forbes 500 and Forbes Global 200, successfully navigating a favorable settlement in the Middle District of Florida. As a result, the client described the experience of working with Nelson and his team as follows: “Thank you for your exceptional advice, counsel, and partnership throughout this process. Your ability to quickly digest a unique (and ever-changing) set of facts and circumstances, strategic thinking, and insights into the Florida trial procedure and the jury pool were invaluable.  It’s been an absolute pleasure working alongside and getting to know you, and I am eager to collaborate again in the near future.”

Beyond his practice, Nelson is a visiting lecturer at Duke University School of Law, where he teaches Corporate Crisis Management and the Role of Outside Counsel to General Counsel, sharing practical insights drawn from decades of litigation and corporate advisory experience.

A respected leader in the legal community nationwide, Nelson was elected Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF), effective March 1, 2026 — becoming the first Hispanic/Latino attorney to hold that position in the organization’s 25-year history.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Nelson remains deeply committed to his South Florida roots and actively gives back to the community that shaped his career. Prior to joining Roig Lawyers, Nelson served as a prosecutor in the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office. Today, he continues to serve on the Miami-Dade County Commission on Ethics & Public Trust as the selection of the Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.
